As is common with blog’s
these days, there’s become a need to feature an ‘About’ page for basic
information about the blog and the person behind the content…
I’m
Aimee Wilson, I’m 33, and I live in the North East of England with two mini Lionhead lop bunnies: Luna and Gracie and a Maine Coon/Rag Doll mix cat called Ruby.
When I was younger, I experienced six months of abuse and one instance of rape. That I disassociated during it, meant that I developed auditory hallucinations and after experiencing them for ten days, I made my first suicide attempt in 2009. A few months later, I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.
In 2012, another suicide attempt left me detained under the 2005 Mental Capacity Act and in a coma on life support in Intensive Care. When I was woken, I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital over 100 miles away from home that specialised in Personality Disorders.
After around six months on the ward – on January 6th 2013 - I created I’m NOT Disordered as a means to better explain my experiences to my family and friends and I quickly found it therapeutic. I spent two and a half years in that psychiatric hospital.
Since the creation of I'm NOT Disordered, it has collaborated with so many incredible charities, companies, organisations, and well-known individuals. It has also featured on the news, the radio, the social media of popular accounts, a documentary, in newspapers, and a magazine - for more details on these, please see the Media Kit in the Contact page.
