INCASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW… AND P.S. THERE’S A NEW PROJECT DATE!!

So, I’m aware that it’s almost one week since the last blog post and in the second prior to it, I promised to attempt to create new content at least once a week because I’m putting so much attention and time into a hugely special project. But, recently; that’s had to take a backseat too when – on Saturday 18th – I was sectioned under the 1983 Mental Health Act and admitted to a psychiatric hospital…

I’m actually still currently sectioned, but I’ve been on home leave since Wednesday with a view to discharge tomorrow! I’ve very obviously and predictably started writing a blog post about the entire fiasco of my mental health crisis and how the legal assessment came about; but I found myself getting upset with the reminders of how difficult this past week has been so that’s gone on the backburner until I’m a little bit less vulnerable and ‘delicate’ (as my Mum put it!). But, I still wanted those of you who are only following my journey on here and not social media, to know why there’ll be an extra silence on I’m NOT Disordered…

Finally! The hugely special super-secret project has a new release date of November 18th, 2023 – let the countdown begin!!

Please use #EverythingDisordered on social media so that I can see your posts!

Honestly, this is one of numerous posts which I would have never imagined I’d end up writing! I don’t know if that’s saying a lot though considering the number of things that have come from blogging that I would have never expected. I mean, I’m NOT Disordered started with a target audience of just a handful of special people, and it now has over 870,000 readers! Having such little expectations of my blog meant that I’ve been extremely pleasantly surprised by the incredible opportunities it has brought me and the benefits it has brought to my life. And, of course, this is so true and applicable to the release of my new book: Everything Disordered…

The dream:

The inspiration for Everything Disordered actually stemmed from a number of different places, but firstly, since writing my short stories about ponies going on adventures when I was little, I’ve loved the idea of writing a book.

I used to love handing my stories and notebooks over to my Nana who would laugh and smile and was forever asking me to write more. It taught me, from a very young age, that writing can have power and influence over a reader’s thoughts and feelings. That your words can change a person’s day, week, month, year or even, life! I thought that having a wild imagination at that age meant that fiction was the perfect genre for my writing and even though I was young, I couldn’t envision writing in any other way.

The inspiration:

I’m NOT Disordered didn’t start off with a lot of faith in it. Not just from others – but I think I underestimated it too. With my target audience being my friends and family, I never thought for one minute that it would amount to all that it is today.

ALL THE PRACTICAL ITEMS YOU NEED TO WRITE A BOOK | SNEAK PEEK INSIDE MY BOOK | TWO DAYS UNTIL THE RELEASE OF EVERYTHING DISORDERED

I can’t believe I’m saying this; but in just two short days (April 20th) my book; Everything Disordered, will officially release. As a pre-launch blog post, I thought I’d create a little something about some of the practical things that I’ve needed to write my book and at the end, you may find a little sneak peek inside the book…

Technology devices

The way the world is with technology, it should come as no surprise to hear that technology played a huge role in writing my book; Everything Disordered. There was once a time where an Author would use paper and pen and send it in the post to a publishing company! Now there are so many options and routes you can take in writing a book and having it published, and a lot of these options involve technology.

Since the beginning of I’m NOT Disordered in 2013, I’ve found that a lot of people assume I must be good with technology to have the kind of following my blog has, but that definitely isn’t the case! I have a huge appreciation for technology because I recognise how important and monumental it has been in my life, but I definitely don’t find it unchallenging or in any way, easy to use! In fact, that was probably a big stumbling block in writing Everything Disordered; I was very unconfident in the process of writing the book, uploading it to KDP, and figuring out the sizing issues (which I’ll be discussing in more detail on the 20th). Honestly, the stress and confusion of the whole process was actually really off-putting and occasionally I began regretting my decision to write a book!

So, I think that in recognising that you’ll need to use technology to write your book, I would recommend ensuring you have a certain level of knowledge on the process and that you do your research before starting to write.
